The Dibrugarh University Vide notification No. DU/RG/G.01.01/15/0442 dated 22.06.2015 has directed all Heads of the Departments, Directors of the Centres of Studies, Wardens and all Controlling Officers of the Hostels and Administration to take necessary measures for forming ‘Special Cleanliness Maintenance Committee’ for each Department, Hostel, Administration section to maintain and supervise the hygiene and cleanliness in their respective departments, hostels and administrative branches. The Committee shall be accountable to the Heads, Directors, Chief Wardens and Controlling Officers of the departments, hostels or branches concerned. The University also sanctioned a lump sum amount of Rs.1,500/- on bi-monthly basis to all departments and administrative branches exclusively for cleanliness purpose.
Accordingly, the cleanliness drives by the various departments, hostels and administrative branches have been undertaken. The following activities have been carried out during the week:
1. Upkeep and Cleaning of offices including common area premises, toilets, stairs, etc.
The Committees constituted for the above purpose have started the process of self-maintenance and self-monitoring of the departmental toilets, stairs and submitted reports on it.
2. Upkeep and cleaning of area outside the office including parking lots, pathways, etc.
The Roads, Parking areas, Garden areas and the Canteens have been cleaned in special exercises led by the Controlling Offices and faculty members. The University has installed additional Bins for waste collection.
3. Disposal of unusable Vehicles/ furniture/ electronics and electrical equipments, etc.
The Departments and administrative branches have also submitted the unusable electronic junks and they are being now disposed scientifically.
4. Weeding out of old files/records etc.
The Departments and administrative branches have scrutinized the office files and documents, classified these as relevant and obsolete and have taken necessary steps for disposed of the unnecessary documents.
5. Special Cleaning drive at the University Central Library.
A library Committee has been formed for maintaining of cleanliness and hygiene at the University Central Library and the following activities has been undertaken during this week.
- Dusting of book racks and rearrangement of books sequentially
- Cleaning of all the old and damage collection and keeping them properly in the Binding area.
- The Committee has removed the unused items such as old and damaged almirah, bookracks, electronics junks, etc.
Further, the University circulated to all the colleges / institutes affiliated to/ permitted by it to comply with the direction for cleanliness drive at their premises on a regular basis.
