The UGC has awarded its prestigious Emeritus Fellowships to two distinguished professors of Dibrugah Unversity, Prof. Pradip Kr. Bhuyan of the Department of Physics and Prof. Bhimakanta Boruah of the Department of Assamese. The UGC offers these fellowships to the highly qualified and experienced, superannuated or likely to be superannuated professors of recognized Universities and other such recognised institutions to conduct specific research work within a period of 2 years. Prof. Bhuyan will carry out his research on Simulation of aerosol properties and air quality using WRF Chem model and forecasting of chemical weather in South Asia. On the other hand, Prof. Boruah will conduct research on A Critical Study on the Languages of North-eastern India. It is to be mentioned that, Prof. Bhuyan has made appreciable contribution towards research and development in the field of Atmospheric Science. On the other hand Prof. Boruah has been regarded as an erudite scholar in the field of North-eastern languages and his contribution towards standardization of Nagamese language has been applauded by the scholarly circle. These two professors will avail the fellowship in  2016 for a period of two years. The UGC has the provision of two hundred Fellowships, 100 for the Science stream and 100 for the Humanities, Social Sciences and Languages.
