The Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University has organised an interaction with Organic Majuli on 1st October 2015 at 11 am in the Seminar Hall of the Centre.
Organic Majuli is a company formed under section 8 of the Company’s Act 2013 and it was founded in 2014 for the promotion of Organic Farming through training and information sharing regarding food, nutrition, income security, community sustainable development and women empowerment. They train interested farmer groups on organic farming techniques and practices in order to reclaim the ecological status of the project area and achieve sustainability in food production.
They monitor and follow up the trained farmers to ensure compliance with the newly learnt organic farming skills and practices. They also assist farmers in selling their produce to the viable markets. Moreover they promote traditional handlooms / craft and eco-tourism.
Professor Ajanta B. Rajkonwar, Director, Centre for Management Studies, Dibrugarh University has initiated the session with her welcome speech. On behalf of the Organisation “Organic Majuli”, Sri Manash Chaliha has begun the discussion followed by Director of the Company Mr. Writuraj Chaliha. It was an interactive session, which lasted for two hours and students were highly involved. Mr Deshraj, Programme Manager, Organic Majuli and Mr Tridip Das, Promoter of Organic Majuli have also participated in the session. The speakers highly emphasised on the need of the organic farming in Assam and sustainable economic development. They have also explained the concept of social entrepreneurship in a very lucid way.
