A four Day National Conference on 'Current Issues in Cosmology, Astrophysics and High Energy Physics' was inaugurated on 2nd November, 2015 at Rangghar, the University Auditorium. A galaxy of very eminent Cosmologist and Astrophysicist from all over the country including Professor Jayant Vishnu Narlikar, a recipient of the Padma Bhushan and Padma Bibhushan are participating in the Conference. Strong contingents of senior scientists from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Inter University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune, Bhaba Atomic Research Centre (BARC) , Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati, IISER, Kolkata, Delhi University, Tezpur University, Kolkata University, Punjab University, Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Manipur University, Pondicherry University, Nainital University, Gauhati University are presenting scientific papers, Plenary talks and Posters in the Conference.
Professor J.V Narlikar who was the Chief Guest in the Inaugural Function presented the Keynote Address on ' Some Conceptual Problems in Cosmology' wherein he discussed in a very interesting manner the different aspects of Dark Matter and Energy.
Professor A. K Buragohain in his Inaugural speech appreciated the initiatives of the young faculty members of the Department of Physics under the leadership of Dr. Umananda Goswami and Dr Kalyan Bhuyan, Dr Pankaj Dutta, Prasanta Kakaty, Dr. Bitap Kalita and others. He also referred to the very strong foundation laid by the Indian Scientists in Astronomy from the days of Aryabhatta till todays community of Cosmologists of the country.
More than 170 papers are being presented in this Conference.
