Towards Greater Synergy between DU and Omeo Kumar Das Institute of Social Change and Development, Guwahati

Dibrugarh University entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Omeo Kumar Das Institute of Social Change and Development, Guwahati, for academic collaborations between the two institutions of higher learning and research in the field of Humanties and Social sciences. The MoU was formally signed in a meeting organized at ‘Chintan’- the Conference Hall at the Registry, Dibrugarh University by Professor Mrinalendra N. Dutta, Registrar, DU and Professor Bhupen Sarmah, Director, OKD Institute of Social Change and Development. In his opening remark, Professor Alak K. Buragohain, the Vice-Chancellor of the University expressed his hope that the MoU shall facilitate synergy between the two institutions with respect to research in the realm of Social Sciences addressing the important contemporary issues of the region and the country. It may be mentioned that there is already research collaboration between the DU and the OKD Institute of Social Change and Development. The new MoU shall now facilitate pursuit of doctoral research by the eligible students at the OKD Institute of Social Change and Development in a comprehensive manner with the facility for completing the mandatory Course Work at the OKD Institute of Social Change and Development itself.

Professor Bhupen Sarmah, the Director andProfessorIndrani Dutta a senior faculty member of the Institute expressed happiness that, this academic collaboration shall open up avenues for greater intellectual and academic interaction between the two institutes the region.

The meeting was attended by Prof. P.K. Barua, Dean, Research and Development, Dr. Binod Chandra Borah, Deputy Registrar (Academic), faculty members of both DU and OKD Institute of Social Change and Development besides all other important functionaries of the University.
