Sixty Seventh Republic Day Observed

The 67th Republic Day was observed with great fervour by the Dibrugarh University community. The programme began with the hoisting of the national tricolour by Professor Alak K Buragohain, the Vice Chancellor at the University Play Ground. He took the salute from the students who presented a beautiful march past along the bands played by the pupils of the University Model School and the students of the Centre for Studies in Physical Education. Addressing the gathering of the faculty members, staff, students and a large number of school children and teachers from the neighbouring villages and other people from around the University, the Vice Chancellor paid rich tribute to the makers of free and modern India. While recalling the contribution of the great leaders of our nation, Professor Buragohain made a fervent appeal to the teachers to lead our youth in the University in a highly professional manner in tune with the changing requirements of the time. He mentioned that our students are endowed with great talents and potential. He called upon for strengthening the institutional mechanisms for enabling our youth in realising their inherent talent and make them involved in the nation building process. Professor Buragohain also briefly narrated some of the remarkable recent academic development of the University.

A few employees of the University was presented with Certificates of Appreciation along with cash awards for their outstanding performance for the year 2015. The winning platoons in the March Past competition were also awarded the Certificates by Professor Mrinalendu Narayan Dutta, the Registrar of the University. There was a friendly Walkathon competition for the teachers and the staff on the occasion of the Republic Day celebration. The on the spot drawing and painting competition amongst the school children were largely attended.
