The Election for the Office Bearers of the Post Graduate Students’ Union of Dibrugarh University for the year 2016-17 was held today on the campus from 8 A.M. till 2 P.M with a display of remarkable discipline, decorum and bonhomie. The student lined up in long queue to cast their vote at the University Auditorium “Rangghar” since morning in spite of inclement weather. Seventy two percent of the students cast their votes for selecting 16 members for the Students Union. Two candidates have already been elected uncontested.
Mr. Sailyajit Buragohain of the Center for Social Works is elected as the President and Mr. Abhijit Nath of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is elected as the Vice President. For the portfolios of the General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary, Mr. Manash Pratim Dutta of the Department of Life Sciences and Mr. Bipul Basumatary of the Dibrugarh University Institute of Engineering and Technology were elected.
Professor Jiten Hazarika Dean, Students Affairs and Professor Dipak Chetia the Returning Officer along with the other teachers, officers and employees have conducted the election process in a smooth and seamless manner. Prof. M.N. Dutta, the Registrar expressed his thanks for the exemplary support provided by the University Security Officer and his group and the District Administration. The Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar of the University conveyed their congratulations to the elected members.
