The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in association with the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Assam State Branch observed the 'World Pharmacists Day 2016'on 25th September, 2016. 'Pharmacists: Caring for you' was the theme of this year’s World Pharmacists Day.
The program began with Flag Hoisting in the premises of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, by Professor A. K. Buragohain, the Vice- Chancellor of the University. He also delivered the Inaugural Address on the occasion in the Seminar Hall of the Department. Professor D. Chetia, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and President, Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), Assam State Branch welcomed the gathering and highlighted the objectives of World Pharmacists Day celebration.
On the occasion of the Day, two programmes were organized:
- The Institution Round of the IPA- Devender Pal- National Elocution Competition-2016 among the B. Pharm. 7th Semester and M. Pharm. students on the topic ‘Role of Pharmacist in Prevention & Management of Lifestyle Diseases’.
- Seminar on the topic ‘Pharmacist for a Healthy India’ among the B. Pharm 1st, 3rd and 5th semester students.
Mr. Him Jyoti Bhagawati, a student of B. Pharm. 7th Semester was selected as the winner of Institution Round in the IPA- Devender Pal- National Elocution Competition-2016. He will participate in the State Round of the competition to be held in the month of October, 2016.
