The (UKIERI) - UGC Thematic Partnership Projects 2016-17 were awarded this evening (April 7, 2017) in a formal function organised by the British Council in New Delhi. The Ambassador of the UK in India, the Science and Technology Minister of the UK and the Secretary, Science and Technology, Government of India were among the dignitaries. Altogether twenty five projects have been selected for the awards this year out of more than one hundred proposals submitted by Scientists and Scholars of the reputed higher education institutions of the country and the UK.

A proposal on Game Theory, submitted by Professor Surajit Borkotokey, Head Department of Mathematics and his Co-Project Investigator from the Queens University, Belfast has been selected for the award. Some other institutes to which UKIERI-UGC Thematic Partnership Projects 2016-17 have been awarded include Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai, JNU, Delhi. University of Delhi, University of Hyderabad, IIT Delhi, IIT Madras, IIT Mumbai, IISER Pune, IIM Bangalore and few others. The project envisages visit of research students from Queens University to Dibrugarh University and also research students from Dibrugarh University to Queens University, Belfast for conducting research on the awarded project.
