The seventh version of the techno-cultural event of Dibrugarh University Institute of Engineering and Technology (DUIET) called AUXESIS was initiated through the Tree Plantation event with the motto-“Cut the Greed, Not the Green”.Padma ShriJadav Molai Payeng was the Chief Guest of the tree plantation program.
Apart from a large number of enthusiastic students, Professor Jiten Hazarika, Dean, Students Affairs, Dr. Mukul Chandra Bora, Director, DUIET, Department Representatives from various Departments of the University, faculty members of DUIET participated in the event. The plantation was done in the DUIET premises and in the nearby areas of the L.P. School in Kumaranichiga, Dibrugarh. Sri Jadav Molai Payeng, popularly known as The Forest Man of India dignified the event with his valuable presence and motivating speech. He enlightened the crowd with his exquisite knowledge about the importance of trees. Mr. Payeng brought two sandalwood trees to plant himself in the honour of the two legends of the country namely Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Late Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. These economically valuable and endangered species of plant saplings will truly be priceless possessions for the university. During the event, every one expressed happiness and enthusiasm towards maintaining these plants for the benefit of the social environment.
