The Two Day Orientation Programme for NSS Programme Officers organized by Dibrugarh University NSS Cell was concluded at Sri Sri Aniruddha Dev Bhawan on 19th of May, 2017. A total of eighty nine out of one hundred sixteen NSS Programme Officers from various colleges affiliated to Dibrugarh University attended the Orientation Programme inaugurated by Prof. Alak Kr. Burhagohain, Vice Chancellor, Dibrugarh University on 18th May, 2017. Ms. Laya Maduri, IAS, Deputy Comissioner, Dibugarh, Mr. Sunil Kr. Basumutary, NSS Regional Director, NE Region, Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Dean, Student Affairs and Prof. J. Borbora, Department of Sociology and Chairperson, Centre for Social Work Studies were amongst the invited dignitaries in the inaugural session.
Dr. D. Kardong, NSS Programme Coordinator of Dibrugarh University NSS Cell in his welcome address briefed the objectives of the orientation programme. Prof. Alak K. Buragohain, Vice Chancellor in his inaugural speech highlighted the objectives of NSS and its significance for students as well as the society. He also urged upon the Program Officers for working hard to make NSS activities truly effective. Ms. Laya Maduri, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Dibrugarh, the Guest of Honour for the inaugural function illustrated the great potency of the eleven thousand six hundred NSS volunteers under Dibrugarh University for transforming the society particularly in the field of primary education. Mr. S.K. Basumatary, applauded the rapid progress of D.U. NSS Cell and highlighted the mission and vision of NSS as a whole. The major outcome of the programme was the compilation of activity reports of NSS units under D.U. and preparation of a road map of various NSS activities to be conducted in the session 2017-18. Dr. Himadri Barman, Program Officer, NSS-DUPG Unit delivered Vote of Thanks. The two day brainstorming programme was successfully ended with the valedictory function witnessed by Prof. Nirode Baruah, Department of History, Dibrugarh University.
