Commemorating the struggle for freedom and sacrifices of the revered freedom fighters, the Dibrugarh University community formally took the PLEDGE for a better India on 9th August at 9.30 am, celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Quit India Movement. The Pledge taking ceremony was attended by the students, faculty members and employees of the University. The Central Pledge taking ceremony was organised in front the main office of the University Administration. Professor Alak K. Buragohain, Vice Chancellor, Dibrugarh University, read out the Pledge in English followed by the Assamese version read out by Professor Jiten Hazarika, Dean, Student Affairs. Before the Pledge taking Ceremony Professor Buragohain recalled the historic decision of the Quit India Movement of 1942 on this day by the Indian National Congress led by Mahatma Gandhi. Professor Buragohain made a fervent appeal to the entire University community, especially to the students to dedicate their life for a Better India. Moreover, students from various Departments and Centres of Studies of the University also took the Pledge at ther own Departments and Centres before their classes at 9.30 am.
The affiliated Colleges of the University have also organised similar Pledge Taking event in their respective Colleges.
