The Dibrugarh University Post Graduate Students’ Union organised the Freshman Social in a glittering function on August 28, 2017 at the Rangghar, the University auditorium. Mr. Sailyajit Buragohain, President of the DUPGSU, presided over the meeting. Mr. Manas Pratim Dutta extended a warm welcome to the new batch of students. He made a fervent appeal to the new students to engage themselves in serious intellectual activities in order to lead the society and the country. Professor Jiten Hazarika, Dean Students Affairs and Professor Pallavi Deka Buzarbaruah, Associate Chief Warden of the University addressed the gathering. Both of them highlighted upon the various scopes and facilities available on the campus and requested the students to take full advantage of these. Professor Hazarika made a special point on the importance of character building by the students. Mr. Jadab Saikia, District Development Commissioner, Dibrugarh district and Prajit Deka, Executive Director, HRD, Oil India Limited, Duliajan, attended the Freshman Social as Guest of Honours.
Earlier on, Professor Alak K. Buragohain, Vice Chancellor congratulated the students for their success in getting into this hallowed institution and extended a warm welcome. Professor Buragohain narrated the past glory and the recent history of Dibrugarh University and reminded them of their great responsibility to take forward the University and the society through their achievement and excellence in academics and all other spheres of life.
There was a presentation and exciting interactive session with the Freshers and the best Fresher was selected at the end. The Freshers were treated with a enjoyable cultural program in the evening.
