Dibrugarh University paid rich tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation in his 148th birth anniversary this morning (October 2, 2017) at a solemn function organised at the office of the Registry. Floral tributes were paid to the Father of the Nation by the officials of the University led by Professor A.K. Buragohain, Vice Chancellor, Professor M.N. Dutta, Registrar, Professor S.K. Ghosh, Director, IQAC, Dr. H. Mahanta, Controller of Examination, Mr. Ruhini Buragohain, Assistant Registrar and others. Professor Buragohain in his brief address emphasized upon the relevance of Gandhiji’s life and philosophy in today’s world. Professor Buragohain particularly pointed out the power of non violence through which Gandhiji succeeded in achieving our cherished independence from the colonial British rulers. He appealed to the younger generation to draw inspiration from the teachings of Gandhiji on swacchhata, entrepreneurship, tolerance, peace and harmony.
