A seminar on ‘Sports Journalism: As a Medium for Skill Development for the Human Resources’ was organized by the Assam Sports Journalist Association, under the patronage of State Level Advisory Committee for Students and Youth Welfare and in collaboration with Centre for Studies of Journalism and Mass Communication, Dibrugarh University at the Sri Sri Aniruddha Dev Bhavan Conference Hall of University on 22nd September, 2017. Professor Jiten Hazarika, Dean, Student Affairs of the University, inaugurated the seminar. Mr. Bidyut Kalita, Secretary of Assam Sports Journalist Association and Assistant Editor, Asomiya Pratidin, Mr. Subodh Malla Barua, President, Sports Journalist Federation of India and Chief News Bureau of Sport in Dainik Axom, Mr. Pabitra Gogoi, Sports Editor of The Assam Tribune and well known senior sport journalist, Mr. Debojit Kotoky, Correspondent, All India Radio, Dibrugarh, and Mr. Saurav Dowarah, a senior Photo Journalist of Dibrugarh were invited as resource persons. They delivered their speeches on various aspects of sports journalism including print and electronic media, and highlighted the scope of sports journalism and sports management. Professor Satyakam Borthakur , Chairperson of CSJMC, delivered the welcome address while Mr. Abhijit Handique, Asst. Professor of CSJMC delivered the formal vote of thanks. Around 100 students participated in the seminar.
