The National Workshop on Network Modelling and Graph Theory was organized by the Department of Mathematics, Dibrugarh University from 14th December to 16th December, 2017. A total of 37 participants attended the workshop from various disciplines viz., Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Bio-Sciences, and Management Sciences. The workshop started on 14 December 2017 with Welcome speech by Professor Surajit Borkotokey, Head, Department of Mathematics. The workshop was inaugurated by Professor P. K. Barua, Dean, R&D of Dibrugarh University. In his inaugural speech Professor Barua emphasized on the importance of network modelling and graph theory in almost all the areas of sciences and social sciences.
Professor Parongama Sen of Calutta University, the Guest of Honour of the workshop accentuated the necessity of studying various complex systems as Networks. Professor Tazid Ali, the coordinator of SAP DRS (II) program introduced the program and highlighted various milestones achieved by the Department in last few years. Dr. Ankur Bharali, the coordinator of the workshop pronounced the vote of thanks and also shared the idea behind organizing this workshop. The inaugural session was also attended by various members of university fraternity including Professor L. K. Nath, Dean, School of Science and Engineering, Professor S. C. Kakaty, Head, Department of Statistics.
The 3-days workshop was spread over ten technical sessions. In the first nine sessions Professor Parongama Sen of Calcutta University, Professor Kuntala Patra of Gauhati University, Professor Buddhadeb Sau of Jadavpur University and Dr. Ganesh Bagler of IIIT Delhi delivered thought provoking presentations related to various issues in network modelling and graph theory. Six participants presented their work related to the theme of the workshop in the last technical session, which was chaired by Professor A. K. Baruah, Department of Mathematics, Dibrugarh University. The workshop was concluded with the distribution of certificates.
