The Sixty Ninth Republic Day was observed at Dibrugarh University Campus with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag by Professor Alak K Buragohain, Vice Chancellor, Dibrugarh University. A large number of students from the University Departments and the Centre for Studies, the NCC Cadets of the University, Students from the neighbourhood Villages, the Model School of the University and the University Security Staff presented a brilliant March Past. The Students from the Centre for Physical Education and Sports displayed an impressive repertoire of Yoga. The programme also witnessed rendition of Patriotic Songs by the Children Group of the University community. Essay Competition, Recitation, Extempore Speech Competition and a friendly Volley Ball match have been organised on the campus to celebrate the Sixty Ninth Republic Day in a befitting manner.
Professor Alak K Buragohain, in his address to the University Community paid rich tribute to the Freedom Fighters of the nation and also to the authors of the Indian Constitution. He drew attention to the unique features and strength of the Indian Constitution. He called upon the University community for their commitment to the nation by acts and deeds that would strengthen the democratic ethos and spirit of this great nation as embodied in the Constitution.
