The Department of Commerce in association with Centre for Studies in Physical Education and Sports organized a short duration Coaching Programme on Self–Defense exclusively for the female students from April 2, 2018 to April 12, 2018. A total of 40 female students participated in the coaching programme. The programme was conducted in two phases. In the first phase practical classes consisting of exercises, yoga, self-defense skills and attacking skills were imparted and in the second phase a series of lectures on women rights and safety has been delivered. Throughout the period of the programme, the resource persons have trained the participants with basic exercises, yoga followed by three different self-defending skills each day. Towards the end of the programme, the participants were trained with attacking skills in case of emergency. The resource persons have also carried out a Body-Mass-Index test of the participants and provided necessary suggestions to them so as to keep themselves fit. The participants have found the programme beneficial for them.
