Department of Petroleum Technology, Dibrugarh University organized a one-day National Workshop on “Reviving Oilfields for Improving Oil Recovery” on Friday, November 22, 2019 in the India Miri Conference Hall of the University.
The workshop started with the Dibrugarh University Anthem followed by lighting of lamp by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor and other invited dignitaries from OIL and ONGC, Assam Asset. Prof. Ranjit Tamuli Vice-Chancellor, Dibrugarh University while inaugurating the workshop stressed on the strategic revival of brown oil fields and supported the viable replacement to the fossil fuel by renewable energy. In the same programme, Shri Sanjeev Kakran, ED-Asset Manager, ONGC Assam Asset inaugurated the Petroleum Park which was set up in the Department of Petroleum Technology with the fund received from the CSR scheme of ONGC’s Assam Asset. Shri Sanjay Goel, CGM-Head HR/ER, DU faculty members and good numbers of dignitaries from ONGC Assam Asset graced the Inaugural Ceremony of the Petroleum Park.
The Co-ordinators of the workshop Dr. Dhrubajyoti Neog and Mr. Ranjan Phukan, Assistant Professors, Department of Petroleum Technology DU highly appreciated the resource persons of the Technical Sessions I & II, Mr. Saloma Yomdo, GM (Reservoir) & HoD-Centre of Excellence for Energy Studies, OIL and Dr. Sanjay Bhutani, GM (Chemistry), ONGC, Jorhat Asset respectively for the wide coverage of the brown oil field issues and its revival strategy. Prof. Pradip Borgohain, HoD, In-charge who took the key initiative in establishing the Petroleum Park in the Department of Petroleum Technology Dibrugarh University was also felicitated during the inaugural function of the workshop.
