The First Year anniversary of 90.8 Radio Gyanmalinee, the Community Radio station of Dibrugarh University was celebrated on 7th of February, 2020 at the Indira Miri Conference Hall, Dibrugarh University. The day long programme began with the Welcome Speech delivered by Prof. Nirode Boruah where he highlighted the achievements and challenges of the initiating year of the Radio and encouraged the enthusiasm of the members of team Gyanmalinee. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. R N S Yadav, Vice- Chancellor i/c, and Dean, Faculty of Biological Sciences. In his inaugural speech Prof. Yadav expressed his pleasure on successful completion of this Radio Centre.
On this occasion a special talk on the topic Mass Media and Community Service was delivered by Tridiv Hazarika, CSR and CC, Oil India Limited, Duliajan. In his speech, Hazarika emphasized the role, value and challenges of the non-commercial media houses like community radio stations in providing community services. A special felicitation programme to eminent artists including Syed Sadullah, Ram Sasoni, Ashim Sarma was also held on the day.
Moreover, a souvenir entitled Gyanmalineewas inaugurated by Prof. Hari Chandra Mahanta, Registrar, Dibrugarh University. The souvenir was edited by Suman Dutta which comprised of more than forty articles and poems. The experience of the members engaged in Radio Gyanmalinee along with some of the eminent guests was also shared on the very occasion.
