(To celebrate the 50th year anniversary of the Applied Geology Department, Dibrugarh University)
A workshop on science writing for the Ph. D scholars of the Dibrugarh University was organized from 16th February to 21st February, 2020 by the Dept. of Applied Geology as a part of the Golden Jubilee Year Celebrations of the department. A total of fourteen Ph. D scholars from different departments and centers of the university participated in the workshop. Principal trainer on science writing Mr. K.P. Madhu and Ms. Geeta Madhu of Current Science Association, Bangaluru were the resource persons for the six days long workshop. The basic objective of the workshop was to build a scientific attitude among the research scholars which would help them to communicate in a right way. The workshop focused on different aspects of writing, specially on extracting informations from research papers, writing literature review and review articles, writing scientific paper, identifying the right journal, skills of designing and presenting scientific posters etc. Both the resource persons tried their best to make the participants get maximum benefits out of the workshop.
The workshop came to an end on 21st February, 2020. Participants shared their experiences and paid high regards to both the resource persons for their hard works and continuous efforts to make everything crystal clear to them. On behalf of all the members of the Department of Applied Geology Prof. Kalpana Deka Kalita, HOD expressed her gratitude to Mr. K. P. Madhu and Ms. Gita Madhu for conducting the workshop very efficiently. Certificates were distributed by Prof. P. Bhattacharyaya, Prof. M.N. Dutta, Prof. Kalpana Deka Kalita and Dr. S.K. Lahiri, Mr. K.P.Madhu and Ms. Geeta Madhu. Ms. Geeta Madhu extended thanks to the Department of Applied Geology for rendering all kinds of support. Dr. S.K. Lahiri, Coordinator of the workshop expressed his sincere gratitude to everyone for smooth conduct and completion of the workshop.
