A programme was organized in the Centre for Juridical studies, Dibruygarh University to observe the World Consumer Rights Day on 15th March, 2014. Addressing a gathering of students, staff and faculty members, the Chief Guest of the function Mr. B.L. Sharma, former Presiding Officer, Labour Court and the Director, Centre for Juridical Studies highlighted on the various legal aspects for safeguarding the rights of the Consumers and stressed upon the need for organizing sensitization programmes to make the consumers aware of their rights. The Director of the Centre, Dr. S.r.Mohapatra initiating the discussion spoke at length the relevancy of the observation of the World Consumer Rights Day and said that every consumer must be aware of his/her duties which is prerequisite to implement the rights in the right direction. Faculty members and students of the Centre also participated in the programme and suggested measures to respect and protect the rights of the consumers. Finally, Ms. Mehnz Akhtar Ahmad, lecturer of the Centre proposed a vote of thanks. The programme was attended by all the students and faculty members.
