Good Governance Day observed in Dibrugarh University
The Dibrugarh University, in association with Dibrugarh University Research Scholars’ Association (DURSA), observed ‘Good Governance’ day by organizing an oratory ( Bhaashan Shailee) competition on 24th December, 2014 on the theme ‘Use of Information Technology in Promotion of Good Governance’. The competition was open for the regular students of Dibrugarh University and also for the students of the affiliated colleges under Dibrugarh University and research scholars of the University. The competition was held in the form of a meeting which was chaired by Dr. B. K. Baruah, Director in-charge, Centre for Library and Information Sciences and Professor, Dept. of Assamese. In the beginning Dr. J. Hazarika, Dean, Student Affairs and Professor, Dept. of Statistics, in his introductory speech briefly mentioned about good governance in higher education and explained about the rules and regulations to be followed by the competitors. The faculties Prof. (Ms.) J. G. Handique, Dr. S. Borkotokey, Dr. K. Bhuyan and Mr. C. Sarmah acted as judges in the competition. In this competition, Mr. Abhishek Agarwal, Sivasagar Commerce College, Sivasagar, Mr. Chandan Chutia, Dept. of Assamese, Dibrugarh University and Ms. Harry Kaur, Dept. of life Sciences, Dibrugarh University were awarded prizes respectively. The winners were presented with cash awards and certificates. In the concluding remarks from the judges, Prof. (Ms.) J.G. Handique pointed out at merits and drawbacks of the competitors and accordingly suggested for improvement from the judges desk. Prof. M. N. Dutta, Registrar, Dibrugarh University, Prof. S. Sengupta and some other faculty members and officers of Dibrugarh University also attended the programme. Ms. Surashmi Bhattacharyya of DURSA anchored the whole programme. Mr. Sankar Jyoti Borah, Research Scholar, Dept.of Chemistry, offered Vote of Thanks to all concerned and specially expressed heartiest gratitude to Professor A. K. Buragohain, Vice-chancellor, Dibrugarh University for his constant support, inspiration and encouragement in holding the event.
