The sixty-sixth Republic Day was celebrated at Dibrugarh University with pomp and gaiety. The entire campus resounded with patriotic songs being played through the public address system. The National Tricolour was unfolded by Alak Kumar Buragohain, Vice Chancellor, DU in the presence of the Deans, Registrar, Teachers, Employees, Students and people from neighbourhood. In his Republic Day address, Prof. Buragohain recalled the contributions of the national leaders in the early post- independence contributions like Dr.B.R. Ambedhkar, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru etc. who worked extensively in framing the Constitution of free India. He also mentioned about the great ancient heritage of the country and its present status as an emerging global leader. He appealed to young generation to come up with dedication, integrity and hard work to take up the responsibility of carrying forward India in its march ahead for development. Prof. Buragohain highlighted the recent achievements of the University, and made a fervent appeal to all to work for the progress of the University and the country. he , along with the registrar, Prof. M.N. Dutta took the salute from the students contingents who paraded along with the band from the Model school of the campus.
