The Dibrugarh University Post Graduate Students' Union is organizing the Northeast Inter-University Meet at Dibrugarh University from 1st May to 3rd May, 2015. About 200 student delegates from Gauahti University, Manipur Central University, University of Science and Technology Meghalaya, Jorhat Women’s University are participating along with the student community of Dibrugarh University. The Dibrugarh University Post Graduate Students’ Union believes that the age-old cordial and congenial relationship among the people of the region can be fore start through organization of events, where students can exchange their ideas, share their world views and showcase their world qualities and talents. An array of activities like debate, quiz, painting, science modeling, cultural programmes, traditional fashion show, music etc. are being organized for the students from their university in these 3 days.
The inaugural function was held at Rangghar, the university auditorium with a welcome address by Bitupon Bordoloi, General Secretary, Dibrugarh University Post Graduate Students Union.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof. Alak Kumar Buragohain while inaugurating the event appreciated the initiative of the Dibrugarh University Post Graduate Students’ Union in organizing the event.
He called upon the youth of the region to remain focused not only in their studies but also in nurturing other very important aspects like emotional intelligence, moral values, social skills and commitment to the people of the nation, environment and innovations. Prof. J. Hazarika, Dean, student affairs expressed in his speech that Nahor, the inter university meet shall definitely provide new vision of our youth through the activities being planned during the event. Earlier on Prof. M.N. Dutta , the Registrar of the university extended a warm welcome to the delegates.
The inaugural function which was beautifully anchored by Ms. Amrita Kashyap Chaliha, Assistant Professor , Centre for Studies in Biotechnology; ended up with vote of thanks offered by Bitupon Bordoloi.
