Certificates were distributed to a batch of youths who are school and college dropouts from the neighbouring villages of Dibrugarh University including Puhari Khania Gaon – the Associate Village of the University by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Alak K. Buragohain in a function organised at the New Conference Hall last week. It may be mentioned that Special Training Programmes on Welding and Computer repairing (Hardware) were launched for the school and college dropouts of the neighbourhood villages by the University. About 30 such youths were motivated by the team which has been organising various activities at the Associate Village to take up these Skill Development Courses so as to enable them to earn a decent means of livelihood.
Mr. Chandan Sharma of the Department of History, Dr. Paramananda Sonowal, Deputy Registrar (Student Welfare and Administration) and Mr. Pankaj Konwar, Mechanical Engineer, Workshop DUIET and many other faculty members attended the meeting and inspired the youths. A large number of School dropouts and some parents and village elders also attended the function.
