The first ever book on the Grammar of Xatriya Dance form, a recognised classical dance of India was released by Dr. Nagen Saikia, former Rasaraj Bezboroa Professor in the Department of Assamese, Dibrugarh University on 18th May, 2015 in a graceful function organised under the aegis of the Centre for Performing Arts. The book entitled ‘Xatriya Nrityar Byakaran’ is authored by Shri Narayan Chandra Goswami, the venerable Xatradhikar of Notun Kamalabari Xatra. The function was also attended by the venerable Shri Janardan Deva Goswami, Xatradhikar, Uttar Kamalabari Xatra and Professor Prakash Pattanayak, Head, Department of Modern Indian Language and Literary Studies, Delhi University. Professor Saikia while releasing the book commented on the invaluable contents of the book and said that this book will remain as a cultural heritage of Assam. Earlier, Professor Karabi Deka Hazarika, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences extended a warm welcome to the two venerable Xatradhikars and other invited guests, faculty members and students. Professor A. K. Buragohain also addressed the audience. Professor Prakash Pattanayak paid rich tribute to the great saint Sankardeva and his contribution towards the socio-religio-cultural transformation of assamese society. The first ankya naat of Shri Sankardeva ‘Patni Prasad’ was staged by the students of the Centre for Performing Arts under the direction of Dr. Bhabananda Hazarika Barbayan.
