Court Meeting1The Ninety Sixth (Adjourned) Meeting of the Dibrugarh University Court was held on 25th May, 2015 which was presided over by Professor A.K. Buragohain, Vice Chancellor as authorised by His Excellency, the Governor of Assam, P.B. Acharya and the Chancellor of Dibrugarh University. Soon after the meeting was declared open by the Registrar, Professor M.N. Dutta, the Vice Chancellor introduced the twelve new nominees of the Hon’ble Chancellor to the court for a period of five years. The Vice Chancellor extended a very warm welcome to the honorable members. He expressed strong hope that the University stands to gain from the valuable advices, directions and guidelines from the much experienced honorable new members in its effort to make the university more student and people centric. The new nominees of the Hon’ble Chancellor who have been inducted into Dibrugarh University Court for the next five years are: (1) Shri J.K. Barua, Legal Expert, Guwahati, (2) Shri Rampada Jamatia, Educationist, Udaipur, Tripura, (3) Smt. Tasile Zeliang, Educationist, Tenning, Nagaland, (4) Mrs. Niru Chottri Sahu, Women’s Right worker, Sivasagar, (5) Ms. Bandita Sashoni, Novelist, Dibrugarh, (6) Shri Ramkui Newme,Social Leader, Haflong, (7) Shri Sotai Kri, Industrialist, Tezu, Arunachal Pradesh, (8) Shri Aseem Dutta, Educationist, Dibrugarh, (9) Shri Manas Deka, Social Leader, Guwahati, (10) Shri Dilip Paranjpe, Chartered Accountant, Mumbai, (11) Shri Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Member of Parliament, Jorhat, (12) Mr. Longsing Teron, Journalist, Karbi Anglong.

The following four new members of the Court have been elected to the Executive Council of the University under provision of the Section (17) (X) of the Dibrugarh University Act 1965 (Amended).

  2. Shri Aseem Dutta, Educationist
  3. Shri Rampada Jamatia, Educationist, Udaipur, Tripura
  4. Mr. Longsing Teron, Journalist, Karbi Anglong

The Court also elected (1) Professor Ashit Saha, Department of Commerce, Dibrugarh University and (2) Jyoti Prasad Gogoi, Associate Professor, Jhanji H.N.S College, to the Finance Committee.

The Vice Chancellor made a brief presentation on the University and his vision. The honorable new members also expressed their satisfaction regarding the development in the University and offered their valuable comments.
