A meeting was held on the 22nd of May 2015 to discuss the potential of a collaborative research partnership between Dibrugarh University and the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida. The two Universities had a MOU under which the faculty members of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences already have had served stints as Post-Doctoral Fellows at the University of South Florida, USA. The meeting was presided over by Prof. Subrata Chakraborty, Director of International Affairs, Dibrugarh University. Special members present during the meeting were Dr. Manisha Joshi and Dr. Iraida Carrion, faculty members from the College of Behavioural and Community Sciences, University of South Florida. Dr. Vijay Swami, Executive Director, Research Institute of World’s Ancient Traditions, Cultures and Heritage (RIWATCH) was also present. A team comprising of 6 other faculty members of the University attended the meeting. The salient points of discussion revolved around designing and implementing an international exchange programme as well as identifying interdisciplinary collaborative opportunities with social science faculty and students at Dibrugarh University. Keeping in view the current global research dynamics in the field of social science, the discussion also focused on emerging research trends that has wide applicability to study contemporary themes related to the field. Prof. M.N. Dutta, Registrar, was also present in the meeting.
